Can a ditch by the side of the road save butterflies? Kate's Three Minute Thesis
This is the video I made for the Three minute thesis competition. “Three Minute Thesis challenges doctoral candidates to present a compelling spoken presentation on their research topic and its significance in just three minutes.” The rules of the competition are that you get three minutes and one static slide to explain your research to a general audience. Condensing anything complex is quite a challenge. For me, it is also a challenge to distill the essence of what my research question is.
Originally, it was an in person three-minute speech. We did a preliminary round in person on campus at Rutgers. For this final round, though, we couldn’t get together for presentations. The organizers came up a nice solution so that you can the slide and the presenter using free, easy-to-use software.
